Frequently Asked Questions

What makes EvolveMD different?

We are reimagining how healthcare is delivered by putting the patient-clinician relationship first: more time, direct access, proactive care, transparent pricing, and fewer insurance-driven barriers.

Does EvolveMD accept insurance?

EvolveMD’s direct primary care membership is paid directly rather than billed to insurance. Insurance can still be useful for services outside the membership, including hospital care, specialists, imaging, medications, and—in many cases—laboratory testing.

Will I still need health insurance?

Maybe. We recommend thinking separately about routine primary care and protection from large, unexpected medical expenses. Many patients pair direct primary care with a high-deductible or other major-medical plan. Some people also consider medical cost-sharing programs. These programs are not health insurance, do not provide the same contractual guarantees or consumer protections, and eligibility/payment rules vary. Review the guidelines carefully before relying on one.

Can I contact my care team outside normal office hours?

Yes, your provider wants to hear from you. Direct access for urgent needs can save time, reduce unnecessary emergency room or urgent care visits, and help address problems before they become more serious. Avoiding even one unnecessary emergency room visit could offset a substantial portion of a year's EvolveMD membership. When an emergency truly requires emergency care, we'll tell you that too.

What if I rarely need medical attention?

You will still benefit enormously. You’ll have a compassionate healthcare ally who truly knows you when the need does arise and can be immediately available. Our current healthcare system has many barriers that make it nearly impossible to directly access your physician when it’s needed. EvolveMD is designed to be the solution.

Can I join if I have Medicare?

Yes. You’ll need to sign a one-time agreement addressing Medicare billing for EvolveMD services. Medicare can still cover eligible outside services such as labs, imaging, medications, specialist care, and hospitalization when applicable. We’ll review the details with you before enrollment.

What happens if I need a hospital or specialist?

We work hard to prevent unnecessary hospitalizations. When specialist or hospital care is required, we can coordinate your care, advocate for you, and stay involved throughout. You'll always have a dedicated doctor and advocate who truly knows your health history and can work alongside your other providers.

Does EvolveMD provide gender-affirming care?

Yes. EvolveMD provides individualized gender-affirming care. Care for minors is provided only when legally allowed by state and federal law; EvolveMD does not currently provide gender-affirming hormone treatment to minors.

How do I know if EvolveMD is right for me?
